Sanguine Estate’s 2013 D’Orsa Reserve Shiraz achieves the 8th best Shiraz in the world

Sanguine Estate’s latest release 2013 D’Orsa Shiraz has been awarded 5 Stars (Gold Medal), best Shiraz in the “$50 to $75” category and 8th best Shiraz overall at Mainfreight World’s Greatest Syrah & Shiraz Challenge just 3 spots behind the 2008 Penfolds Grange Shiraz (valued at $899).

Sanguine maintains it’s RED 5 star James Halliday rating

James Halliday has awarded Sanguine Estate the Red 5 Star Winery Rating for the second year in a row.  To achieve a red 5 star rating a winery must be an ‘Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity. Will have at least two wines rated 95 points or above, and had a five-star rating for the previous two years’.

According to the latest Wine Companion this places Sanguine in the top 10% of Australian wineries reviewed.

Sanguine Estate Shiraz achieves Heathcote Wine Show’s highest accolade 3 years running

The Hunter Family of Heathcote’s Sanguine Estate have found themselves holding the Heathcote Wine Show’s Grand Terroir Trophy for the third year in a row. The winery has consistently achieved the show’s highest honour since it began in 2013. A total of 227 wines were submitted for judging at this year’s show and the Heathcote Grand Terroir Trophy recognises the highest quality and style consistency across three Shiraz wines spanning a minimum of six vintages for one singular wine label.

The D’Orsa, Sanguine’s reserve Shiraz (named for Pietro D’Orsa, Tony Hunter’s Great Grandfather and also a winemaker in a neighbouring region during the 1870’s) took out the top honour with its 2007, 2009 and 2013 vintages. But the winning streak doesn’t end there… Read More…

James Halliday awards Sanguine a RED 5 star rated winery

James Halliday has awarded Sanguine Estate the prestigious Red 5 Star Winery Rating which indicates an ‘Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity. Will have at least two wines rated 94 points or above, and had a five-star rating for the previous two years’.

According to the latest Wine Companion this places Sanguine in the top 8.4% of Australian wineries reviewed.
