Love cheese? Love wine? Never quite understood how to match them? Enjoy learning about wine and cheese pairing with Nardia Keene of Goldfields Farmhouse Cheeses and Sanguine Estate’s winemaker Mark Hunter, as they share their knowledge (and handcrafted cheeses!) and take guests on a journey through the world of wine and cheese.
Host: Winemaker Mark Hunter
Nardia Baxter-Keene is the principal cheese maker and owner of Goldfields Farmhouse Cheese with her Food Technologist husband Andrew Keene. After working at Universities here and overseas Nardia, who has a PhD in Microbiology, decided that a life in academia was not for her. She wanted to do something that would combine her two interests of Microbiology and Food. So cheeses making was an obvious choice. After learning some basic cheese making skills, producing two children and finding a local farmer to supply milk Goldfields Farmhouse Cheese was established and produced it’s first commercial batch of cheese on October 6th 2005. Goldfields Farmhouse Cheese now sources milk from three local farms which each have different breed of dairy animal from which they produce fresh, soft, semi-hard, hard and blue vein cheeses.
