Looking forward to our Sanguine package for my partner’s birthday surprise.! Living on the Mornington Peninsula with amazing pinot noir, and being a rare drinker, it’s been decades since I’ve bought anything other than local. I remember in the 1990s enjoying Jasper’s Georgia Paddocks until it was impossible to source. Thanks to my friend Brenda Shanahan who recently visited your property with friends John and Robyn, and who passed one of her treasured Progeny bottles to us as a gift. We can’t stop talking about how delicious and easy-drinking it is. Sue, 7th August 2020
Love that rosé, gorgeous bouquet and so full on and fruity in the mouth, delicious. Best rosé I have had. Kay, 27th July 2020
Drank a 2001 Shiraz…..one of 6 Australian wines selected by Nick that he said would age. Sure knew his wines! Still a smooth balanced wine with a initial amazing nose! 22nd December 2019
Greatness includes being consistently at the top. Sanguine is always there. Each individual award is great yet what is truely great is that there is no’one off’. No flukes. I like football analogies. There are a lot of footballers who can do what Gary Ablett does. None can do it as often and over a long period of time.
You are developing a reputation that will have your wines mentioned in the same commentary as Penfolds and Taylor’s. Randell Fuller, 14th October 2019
Outstanding introduction to the Heathcote wine region and I am glad I came here first up. Enjoyed a solo one on one tasting inside the beautiful winery hall where I tried a succession of stunning bottles of Shiraz. A warm and friendly host who helped me with what turned out to be excellent recommendations for other cellar doors to visit as well as where to get some lunch which was just up the hill at Heathcote Harvest which I can’t recommend enough either. The sense of community and professional respect they all hold for each other is very strong in Heathcote and I spent the rest of the day feeling every bit of that warmth. Thank you and I will be back again. Matt Taylor, Sept 2019
Many thanks for your letter welcoming us to the Sanguine Wine Club. Our only regret is that we did visit your winery earlier as the wines are consistently stunning. It’s so rare to see a winery produce such high quality wines from a Rose to Chardonnay to Shiraz and so forth.
Your invitation package also highlights the family’s professionalism and focus on customer service.
Congratulations to you all and we look forward to many winery visits and drinking your outstanding wines.
Best John and Robyn, 8th August 2019
Thank you, Amanda for the excellent wine tasting last Sunday for our group from the Hunter Valley. We enjoyed all the wines and will be sharing our purchase with friends in Sydney. Best wishes Anna Orgill, 24th November 2018
Thanks for the photos, I look very serious on the second one! Was a lovely evening, beautiful wines. Thought I’d paced myself ok, until the museum was opened, very sore head the next day! Great co-incidence – having “been good” this last week I made home made pizzas and opened our party bag bottle of wine tonight. Made for a perfect Friday night.
Will definitely be there next year, but hope to see you before up at the vineyard, Heather, 24th August 2018
Looking forward to tasting some when they become available. Kris and I found your 2016 Shiraz equal to any of the top wines we tasted on our two week road tour of country Victoria. Great fruit and spice being soft on the palate. You certainly have fans in Gerrigong NSW.
Well done again! Warmest regards, Bill Goldthorp, 7th August 2018
Hope you and the family have been well.
I just wanted to write a quick email to let you know how much I appreciated the help/service my friend and I got given from one of your staff when we visited on Saturday; I believe her name was Frances (older woman; short dark hair, glasses).
She took us through all the wines and was very informed, didn’t pressure us to buy anything (although there was no way I was going to walk out without a bottle hahaha), and even went and found some magazines for us to read while we were enjoying a glass outside.
Please thank Frances for her role in making the visit wonderful, my friend and I will definitely be back. J
Kind regards, Casey Lodge, 31st July 2018
I had such a great time… I’m still excited.
Not only to be on the winning team and them agreeing on my blend but the whole way you and Mark presented the event.
I was very impressed and and personally thank you on behalf of all attendees for Sanguine holding a most proffestional event.
I of course will forward a review.
As well as the six bottles included I hope I can purchase a few dozen for my cellar to keep and track it’s future and pass some on to my family and friends.
I have never told you how I came across Sanguine…a few years I went to a restaurant on Phillip Island and order a bottle of 2012 Shiraz..
I was so impressed I went back frequently till they had no more to offer…I then went straight to the source…the rest you know.
Thank you, Manny Fahnle, 29 June 2018
I just wanted to write and thank Sanguine in particular Tony for such a wonderful wine tasting on Christmas Eve, when we picked up our D’Orsa. He gave us such a great insight into the wines and the work involved in Sanguine. We never expected such a distinguished wine maker to provide us with a personalised and lengthy tasting. It really made a great start to our Christmas! We were also really impressed with the teams customer service at the Heathcote food and wine festival, it stood out from the crowd. Please pass on our thanks to him. We hope to be back again in 2018.
With thanks again, Cecilia, 6th January 2018
I recently took the opportunity to join the wine club after being a being a customer for about 2 years and about a week ago received your letter confirmation, membership card and a copy of the book ‘People Behind the Wines of Heathcote’.
Firstly let me say what pleasant surprise it was to receive this package and of course thank you very much. I have to say all my experiences with the team at Sanguine have been absolutely fantastic – from the more than affable Tony at the cellar door to emails from Jodi and now with yourself.
I have visited and continue to visit many winery areas in Aust regularly – Coonawarra, Barossa, Yarra Valley, Heathcote, Mornington Peninsula, Beechworth and I have quite a few club memberships and over time I have developed many personal friendships with some wineries and I have to say that Sanguine Estate offers one of the best ( if not the best) overall experiences I have encountered. The team are very approachable, friendly, and professional across all aspects of your business and the wine is absolutely and consistently first rate. A lot of wineries in Australia – both big and small could learn from you. You should be justifiably proud of yourselves.
Wishing you and the team continued success, great vintages and of course a happy and safe Christmas and New Year,
Kindest Regards, Neville Threader, December 2017
Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Sanguine Estate’s 2012 Inception Shiraz equals 2012 Penfolds Grange as the best Shiraz in the world!
Impressive! Is an understatement. Probably won’t be able to afford any now. Craig Healey, September 2017
Well done guys still my favourite Heathcote winery. David Treger, September 2017
My Favourite Shiraz from Heathcote. Fortunately I still have half a dozen ageing nicely! Congratulations! Andrew Maeer , September 2017
Well done Mark, Jodi and team! That is an epic achievement. More so because many feel that the 2012 Grange is one of their best in a long long time. Keep up the great work and I look forward to one day tasting your award winning drop. James Mortimer, September 2017
Top efforts rewarded with a top result. Well done Mark and all the team/family. Stephen Ball, September 2017
Heathcote on Show 2017
Thanks for your email and to be honest, yours was my favourite experience of the day… the venue itself was smart, imposing, yet the people made it feel “local”. I really enjoyed your wine too, the Progeny was top drawer! Dan Grewcock, June 2017
Are party thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Sanguine Estate. The setting was beautiful, the meal was well presented, tasty and plentiful and the wine was excellent. We will return. Murray Coulthard, June 2017
My husband and I really enjoyed our Day at Sanguine!! Such a perfect sunny day to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. The wine tasting was excellent and we purchased 6 bottles to enjoy this winter. Nanci Thurston, June 2017
My group thoroughly enjoyed our day at your winery…..your wine as always never fails to please…. Lyn Hough, June 2017
We had a fantastic day at Sanguine on Sunday. Food and wine were great . Shuttle bus fantastic. Thanks Wendy Little, June 2017
We very much enjoyed the day. The Masterclass was well organised and informative, and the cheese gifts at the conclusion were a very unexpected but welcome treat. The location is stunning and it was lovely to meet the team and put faces to those we have been exchanging emails with. We enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the views. We’re looking forward to enjoying the wines we bought and I am thinking about going to the family dinner in Brunswick in August. John Ferguson, June 2017
We enjoyed our visit and had a great tasting experience too. The setting is delightful. The courtesy bus was a great bonus. Felicity Lawrence, June 2017
Sanguine Estate Music Festival 2017
We visited Saturday morning and had a group tasting in the morning. It was such a great experience! The wines were incredible and Tony was so lovely. We’ll definitely be back to Heatcote again. Hannah Hockley, July 2017

Pam has praise the festival no end – we’re looking forward to it immensely. Steve and Mary Crabb (via email 17/02/17)
Thanks Eric – 2017 was one of the best (if it’s possible to claim one festival has been better than the others!) and we are already looking forward to 2018. John and Judith Hodgson (via email 16/02/17)
Sanguine Estate Music Festival (Heathcote) Farewell Concert and Lunch – a memorable event Congratulations on hosting such a well run, world class event. It was the musical equivalent to tasting a flight of stellar Domaine de la Romanée–Conti vintages! Please let me know when bookings will be open for 2018. Michael Hince Wine writer – Broadcaster & Historian, Melbourne, Australia (via email 13/02/17)
Another fabulous Festival! How can I book for 2018 please? Jackie Tidey (via sms 12/02/17)

“Boathouse was a brilliant evening and we felt like extended family enjoying the special wines and food which has so raised the bar at home. Gary and Matt were so generous with their attention the whole event was special…” Glenda & Peter Ruby, September 2013
“..Enjoyed a great night at Fenix with great Sanguine wines and magnificent food. Highly recommend the Sanguine wine experience.” Greg O”Callahan (Facebook extract) August 2011
“CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for the fabulous night at Fenix Restaurant. Great venue – terrific company – excellent food – fabulous wine – but what else could one expect from a 5 star rating! Well done indeed”. Mary Stapelton, August 2011
“..I am a new person to Melbourne from Sydney so also new to Victorian wines as well. I love the Sanguine Estate wines I tasted and thoroughly enjoyed the event at FENIX. It must be wonderful to be involved in such a lovely family business. Congratulations on what you have achieved, and thank you for such a wonderful introduction to Melbourne”. Barbara Willebrands, July 2011
“…the D”Orsa evening was AMAZING! The food and wine were perfectly matched (that Cheeky ”10 Chardy with confit trout, and 08 Cab with beef carpaccio was to die for). Thanks for all your hard work we felt very special. Congrats to you and Mark (and Tony and Linda) on the 5 Stars and fab James Halliday ratings” Sigrid DeCastella (Facebook extract) July 2011
“…my wife and I have sampled the tempranillo back at home and we think it’s the best we’ve had outside Spain”. Allan Shatten, July 2011.
“Thanks again for a great night at Fenix – as well as great food and wine you kept a good balance of interesting information and discussion. It certainly kept the small but professional family team feel to it, which I think is a good niche for Sanguine to occupy. The Halliday reviews are well deserved recognition, congratulations to the whole team”. Stephen Ball, July 2011
“I recently decided to open your 2001 Shiraz. After looking at the label I thought I may have been too late as it suggested 05/06 drinking, however cork still in good cond., some sediment of course, excellent bright deep colour, nice fresh nose (wine, not mine) excellent flavours still retaining freshness & length. I believe the wine will still last several more years, so I look forward to further enjoyment drinking the remaing bottles”. Mel Mattingly, June 2011
“…I opened a bottle of your 2002 estate shiraz last weekend – superb, everything it should be”. James McDougall, June 2011.
“…first discovered Sanguine in a Bar in Swanston St. It was a glass of the 2004 Estate Shiraz. I loved it and have been an avid collector of Sanguine Estate wines since, The Estate Shiraz is my favourite. My cellar is quite well stocked of vintages dating back to 2004 and I have more Sanguine Estate than any other Winery in my cellar as the wines are consistently excellent…” Emma Thompson, October 2010
“…I first noticed Sanguine in Winestate Magazine in reference to their D’Orsa. Subsequently I searched them out at the 2007 Heathcote Food & Wine Festival. Our favourite is the D’Orsa, but the rest of the reds are pretty good too. Great quality and value. Hits all the right spots on my palate and great wine to share with friends”. Stuart Grant, October 2010
